On October 17, 2018, a delegation from the Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Education, Laos, including Ms. Bounsone Thansy, Deputy Director of the Department, Ms. Ampavane Soutchack, Director of the Vocational Education Division, and Mr. Bicheng, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Division, visited our college. The visit focused on discussions regarding the education and training of Laotian international students, cooperative education programs, and friendly city relations. In attendance were Jian Lu, Secretary of the College Party Committee, Tan Hui, President of the Leshan Association for International Friendship, Yang Chengyi, Director of the Friendship City Division of the Leshan Investment Promotion and Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau, and relevant staff from the International Cooperation Office of the college. The meeting was chaired by Huang Xiaoli, Director of the Party (College) Office and International Cooperation Office.
During the symposium, Secretary Jian Lu extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Ms. Bounsone Thansy. He provided an overview of the college's major offerings, distinctive features, and international exchanges, with a particular focus on the history of educational cooperation between the college and Laos since 2011. He highlighted the significant achievements made over the past eight years in the education of Laotian students. Jian Lu stated that the college will continue to strengthen its educational programs for Laotian students, increase the number and quality of Laotian international students, and explore new methods of student training. He proposed collaborating with Laotian enterprises and Chinese companies in Laos to provide targeted training for skilled technical personnel. Regarding cooperative education projects, he suggested that both sides should work together to create favorable conditions.
Ms. Bounsone Thansy expressed her gratitude to Leshan Vocational and Technical College for its significant support to the education sector in Luang Prabang, Laos, and for the care and cultivation of Laotian students. She pledged that the Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Education would further enhance cooperation with our college in the education of Laotian students and cooperative education projects, elevating the partnership and friendship to new heights.
In his concluding remarks, Tan Hui acknowledged the remarkable and visible achievements of the educational cooperation between Luang Prabang Province and Leshan Vocational and Technical College. He emphasized that this cooperation has laid a solid foundation for establishing a sister - city relationship between Leshan and Luang Prabang. He called for joint efforts from both sides to advance the establishment of this relationship and to build a platform for more comprehensive and in - depth exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, and economic trade.
Additionally, the delegation was accompanied by 31 new Laotian international students from Luang Prabang who were recently admitted to our college.
