Our College Holds Foreign Teachers' Coordination Meeting and Teachers' Day Greeting Activity

On the afternoon of September 10 at 2:30 p.m., the meeting for foreign teachers this semester, as well as the Teachers' Day greeting event for foreign teachers, was held in the conference room on the third floor of the college. Attending the meeting were Deputy Party Secretary and Discipline Inspection Commission Secretary Chen Zhihai of the college, heads of relevant departments such as the International Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, Nursing Department, Tourism Department, and General Courses Department, all foreign teachers of the college, and all staff members of the International Affairs Office. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Huang Xiaoli, Director of the Party Affairs Office, College Office, and International Affairs Office.


At the meeting, Deputy Secretary Chen Zhihai extended a welcome and festival greetings on behalf of the college to the three foreign teachers from the United States. Deputy Secretary Chen Zhihai stated that the number of foreign teachers and international students is an important indicator for evaluating the internationalization level of a university. Over the years, foreign teachers at our college have played a significant role in promoting professional development, the growth of international and multicultural campus culture, and international cultural and educational exchanges. He expressed his hope that the foreign teachers, who have traveled from afar, will find their work at our college fruitful and their lives pleasant.


The heads of relevant departments and faculties expressed a warm welcome to the foreign teachers. The new and returning foreign teachers also expressed their gratitude for the college's care and support in their work and life, and pledged to actively cooperate with the college's teaching requirements and contribute to the cultivation of students in the future.


Finally, Director Huang Xiaoli made a unified arrangement for the foreign teachers' work this semester, re-emphasizing the importance of foreign teachers' work and calling for enhanced communication, coordination, and cooperation among relevant faculties and functional departments. She also stated that the International Affairs Office will provide full support to the foreign teachers, the faculties involved in foreign teaching, and other departments.


At the end of the meeting, Deputy Secretary Chen Zhihai presented festival gifts to the three foreign teachers on behalf of the college.


Currently, there are three foreign teachers working at our college, all from the United States. Two new foreign teachers were hired this year. One is Sarah Scharf (Chinese name: Fang Fang), a US-China Friendship Volunteer. The other is Floranna Rahbe (Chinese name: Hua Yannan), who has lived in Sichuan for many years and has taught at several universities in the province. The third is Nathaniel Caldwell (Chinese name: Chen Kaivei), who has been working at our college for six years and has settled down and started a family in Leshan.
