​College Takes the Lead in Initiating the Establishment of the "Belt and Road" Nursing Education Alliance

On the evening of November 9, 2017, foreign experts attending the "2017 China-Thailand International Nursing Education Forum" and representatives from some domestic hospitals and schools convened in the 424 conference room of the administrative office building for the "China-Thailand International Nursing Education Forum Deans' (Presidents') Joint Meeting" to discuss the establishment of the "Belt and Road" Nursing Education Alliance. During the meeting, Jian Lu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Leshan Vocational and Technical College, provided a detailed introduction to the ideas and plans for establishing the "Belt and Road" Nursing Education Alliance. He stated that the successful convening of the "2017 China-Thailand International Nursing Education Forum" marked a new platform and starting point for international nursing education exchanges between China and Thailand. The college would use the forum as a vehicle to actively promote the construction of a China-Thailand nursing education exchange and development platform, strengthen the connections and communication of nursing education among countries along the "Belt and Road," and comprehensively improve the level of nursing teaching and the quality of talent cultivation. To this end, the college called on institutions, enterprises, industry associations, social organizations, and all relevant entities from countries along the "Belt and Road" who are willing to contribute to the development of the alliance to join hands in establishing the "Belt and Road" International Nursing Education Alliance. This alliance aims to promote the formation of a nursing education community among countries along the route and jointly cultivate compound nursing talents with an international perspective.


The college's initiative received an enthusiastic response from the domestic and foreign experts and representatives in attendance. They signed their names in the "Belt and Road" preparatory meeting register to show their support. They included: Dr. Yoavadee Suwannaka, President of Phutthabat College of Nursing in Thailand; Ms. Laddawon Vaisurasingha, President of Changwon Nongtaburi College of Nursing; Ms. Phenchamat Khamthana, President of Phichit College of Nursing; Dr. Sukjai Charoensuk, President of Chakri College of Nursing in Ratchaburi Province; Mr. Sutut Hemtanon, President of Suphanburi College of Nursing; Dr. Anchalee Chutitorn, Assistant to the President for International Affairs at the Thai Red Cross College of Nursing; Ms. Kerstin Latzkouw, President of Böllinger Nursing College in Germany; Tao Xingyu, President of the Sino-German Science and Technology Cultural Exchange Association; Jin Yuanping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xinzhou Vocational and Technical College; Ju Mei, Dean of the School of Nursing at Southwest Medical University; Zhao Xiaoyu, Dean of the School of Nursing at Chengdu Medical College; Yi Qun, President of Leshan People's Hospital; Qing Yong, Vice President of Dazhou Vocational and Technical College; Ma Zhiqun, President of the Leshan Nursing Society; Zhuang Hong, Dean of the School of Health at Sichuan International Vocational College; and Jian Lu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Leshan Vocational and Technical College.


The meeting also decided that the next "China-Thailand International Nursing Education Forum" would be held in Thailand in November 2018. Finally, the experts and representatives attending the "Belt and Road" Nursing Education Alliance Joint Meeting took a group photo to commemorate the occasion.


Also attending the joint meeting were Chen Zhihai, Deputy Party Secretary of the college; Zhang Xuehe, Vice President; Huang Xiaoli, Director of the International Cooperation Office; Zhang Zhigui, Director of the Academic Affairs Office; Qiao Shiwen, Director of the Nursing Department; Ding Yu, Deputy Director of the Nursing Department; and relevant staff members.
