On June 30, the First Congress of Returned Overseas Chinese and Their Families from Leshan Colleges and Universities was held at Leshan Normal University. Attendees included Huang Hao, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; Xi Daijin, Member of the Standing Committee of Leshan Municipal Party Committee and Director of the United Front Work Department; Chen Yijun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Leshan Normal University; Zhang Jia, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Leshan Vocational and Technical College; Tang Shan, Second-level Researcher of the Grassroots Construction Department of Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; and Huang Xuewen, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of Leshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. Also present were Zhong Yi, Member of the University Party Committee and Director of the Publicity (United Front Work) Department, and 10 representatives from the college.
Huang Hao, on behalf of Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Leshan College and University Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. He pointed out that the founding of the federations in the two universities is a major event in the fields of united front work and overseas Chinese affairs in colleges and universities, marking a crucial step in integrating Leshan's overseas Chinese federation work into the development of higher education institutions. To advance the cause of overseas Chinese federations in colleges and universities, it is essential to adhere to political guidance, keep to the correct direction, and consolidate the common ideological foundation; focus on core responsibilities, serve the overall interests, and demonstrate the dedication of overseas Chinese communities; strengthen services for overseas Chinese with sincerity and effort to build a warm "home for overseas Chinese"; and enhance self-construction and forge a strong and effective organization.
Xi Daijin, on behalf of the Leshan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, congratulated the establishment of the Leshan College and University Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, thanked Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese for its long-term care and guidance, and expressed high respect and sincere greetings to returned overseas Chinese, their families, overseas students returning to China and their families in Leshan's colleges and universities. He emphasized the need to clarify the development orientation of the federation, use this platform to convey the care of the Party committee and government to overseas Chinese communities, and strengthen the common "roots," "soul," and "dreams" of Chinese people at home and abroad. Rooted in the fertile soil of colleges and universities, the federation should contribute to the development of Leshan's education and overseas Chinese federation causes. Meanwhile, the municipal Party committee and government will comprehensively strengthen overseas Chinese affairs in the new era; college Party committees should fully support overseas Chinese federations in playing their roles; and relevant municipal departments should strengthen coordination and joint efforts to create a new situation for the work of Leshan's college and university overseas Chinese federations.
Zhang Jia, on behalf of Leshan Vocational and Technical College, expressed sincere gratitude to Sichuan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Leshan Municipal United Front Work Department, Leshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese for their care and support for overseas Chinese affairs in Leshan's colleges and universities, and to Leshan Normal University for its efforts in organizing the congress. He noted that the two universities have broken traditional models and jointly established the federation. In the future, they will vigorously promote the "local overseas Chinese federation + university overseas Chinese federation" mechanism, integrate advantageous resources of overseas Chinese communities in colleges and universities, and achieve resource sharing, collaborative innovation, complementary advantages, and win-win cooperation to effectively advance overseas Chinese federation work in colleges and universities in the new era.
At the congress, Huang Xuewen read out the Reply on the Establishment of Leshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Their Families from Colleges and Universities. The congress reviewed and adopted the Election Measures for the First Session of the First Committee of Leshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and Their Families from Colleges and Universities (Draft) and other relevant matters, and elected the Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary-General, and Committee Members of the First Committee of the federation. Li Shuhuan, a teacher from the School of Nursing and Health Care, was elected as a Committee Member and Vice Chairman; Xin Houlan, a teacher from the School of Quality Education, and Wang Qi, a teacher from the School of Digital Economy and Management, were elected as Committee Members.
