On April 29-30, Floranna Rahbe and Sarah, foreign teachers at the college, and Nike, an international student from Nepal, were invited by the Culture, Broadcasting, News, and Publishing Bureau of Ebian Yi Autonomous County to participate in a Yi culture experience activity in Heizugou, Ebian. Accompanied by staff from the International Cooperation Office, they immersed themselves in the historical and cultural heritage of the Yi ethnic group, a minority in western China.
During the activity, the foreign teachers and students toured the urban landscape of Ebian County, enjoyed Yi-themed performances by the Ganmo Aniu Art Troupe, and experienced Yi architecture, dance, Yi-language songs, Yi sky-worshipping rituals, and Yi wedding customs. Floranna and Nike also participated in the "Yi Costume Show and Foreigners Speaking Yi Language" segment of the Yi-themed bonfire evening, bringing the event to a climax as representatives of foreign participants.
By observing, listening, learning the Yi language, and experiencing the unique charm of the Yi minority culture firsthand, the foreign teachers and students deepened their understanding of the local ethnic cultural history within the jurisdiction of Leshan and enhanced their affection for the regional culture and the land itself.
After the event, the foreign teachers and students expressed that the beautiful scenery, fresh and delicious food, warm and friendly people, and unique Yi customs of Ebian had left a deep impression on them. They all stated that they would introduce Ebian to their friends and family.
