College Becomes a Developer of Ethiopia's National Vocational Standards

Time:2023-04-25

On April 23rd, 2023, the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance announced the first batch of approved units for the "Ethiopia National Vocational Standards Development Project." After a rigorous process of school application, preliminary review by the alliance, expert evaluation, and public announcement, Leshan Vocational and Technical College was designated as the lead unit for the development of Level 3 Nursing Technician/Engineer and Level 3 Animal Breeding Technician/Engineer standards. Additionally, the college was selected as a participating unit for the Level 4 Mechanical Processing Technician/Engineer standards.

The "Ethiopia National Vocational Standards Development Project" is an initiative by the Ethiopia National Vocational Education and Training Commission to introduce Chinese vocational education resources. It aims to select an equivalent number of Chinese vocational standards tailored to the key industry skill positions in Ethiopia. These standards will be revised to suit local contexts and then registered and certified through Ethiopia's national procedures. Once integrated into Ethiopia's national vocational education system alongside corresponding professional teaching standards, they will guide vocational colleges in Ethiopia in talent cultivation.

Moving forward, the China-Africa Vocational Education Alliance will collaborate with expert working groups from both China and Ethiopia, as well as the Ethiopia National Vocational Education and Training Commission, to formulate project implementation plans. They will establish communication mechanisms among all relevant units involved in the project, guide the approved units in developing detailed implementation plans, and organize a project launch conference at an appropriate time. Leshan Vocational and Technical College will work in tandem with the lead and participating units for Nursing Technician/Engineer, Animal Breeding Technician/Engineer, and Mechanical Processing Technician/Engineer standards. The college will establish specialized working groups and mechanisms, enhance process management, and ensure the high-quality and timely completion of the project.
