On the evening of August 29th, the 10th Sichuan Provincial College Student Art Exhibition concluded at the Chengdu City Concert Hall. Wang Shuying (Vangduayong) from Laos, a student at our university, won the second prize in the Artwork (Painting Group A) category with her painting titled "Orchid and Bamboo in Harmony."
As the highest-level display of college art education in Sichuan Province, the event was officially launched in March of this year. A total of nearly 1,600 works from 134 universities across the province were entered for exhibition, with over 8,000 college students representing their institutions. They showcased the rich achievements of art education in Sichuan's higher education institutions through a variety of artistic forms, reflecting the spirit of contemporary college students.
Our university placed great importance on this college student art exhibition. Led by the university's Youth League Committee, the event was integrated into the students' "second classroom" activities, actively encouraging all students to participate. This increased the influence and coverage of student activities, cultivated students' appreciation for refined arts, and put into practice the educational philosophy of "cultivating people through aesthetics and culture." This art exhibition was a review of the university's aesthetic education work, fully demonstrating the spirit of our young students who have ideals, dare to take responsibility, are willing to endure hardships, and strive to fight. It also showcased their noble pursuit of beauty in spirit, image, behavior, and language, as well as their high moral character. The university will further deepen the reform of aesthetic education in higher education institutions, continue to integrate aesthetic education into the entire process of talent cultivation, inspire college students in the new era to pursue truth, goodness, beauty, and progress, and gather the spiritual strength to love the Party, the country, and bravely take on the great mission of national rejuvenation.
It is reported that the College Student Art Exhibition is led by the Ministry of Education and has been held every three years since 2005. It is an artistic event that implements the requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to comprehensively strengthen and improve aesthetic education in schools in the new era, and to showcase the achievements of art education in higher education institutions and the youthful spirit of college students. It is currently the highest-specification, largest-scale, and most influential college student art exhibition in China.
