Time:2019-08-03

On August 3, the 134 overseas Chinese - descendant teenagers participating in the 2019 "China Roots - Seeking Journey" Summer Camp in Leshan, Sichuan, officially kicked off their first day of the journey after enjoying a hearty breakfast. These young participants, hailing from Germany and Spain, embarked on their quest to explore their cultural roots.

The journey to discover their roots began with an exploration of the Chinese language and culture. Thus, the participants first engaged in an intimate encounter with traditional Chinese culture through the "Three - Character Classic," painting, opera, martial arts, and Tai Chi.

At 9:00 a.m., the participants promptly arrived at the classroom. To facilitate smooth service and management, the 134 Chinese - descendant teenagers were divided into four classes, each with a dedicated counselor.

According to the schedule, the participants from the four classes took turns to follow teachers Zhang Lei and Ma Shixin from the Tourism and Art Department to experience the exquisite art of Chinese painting. They chanted the Chinese classic "Three - Character Classic" with teachers Wu Yuxi, Wang Wenhua, Tang Jing, and Yang Qing from the Basic Public Courses Department. Under the guidance of teachers Dai Lingjiang and Zhang Fan from the Physical Education Department, they delved into the profoundness of Chinese martial arts and Tai Chi. They also stepped into the world of Chinese opera with teacher Qing Yi.

At 7:00 p.m., in the third - floor auditorium of the Academic Exchange Center, the Chinese - descendant participants will engage in an artistic exchange with local Leshan youth, showcasing their personal talents.
