VALUATE MY STUDY LIFE IN TRCN
Zhoujie(Summer)
In Thailand, the exchange program of eight months internship has ended, I begin to review the life in TRCN .The first day I come to Thailand I felt the weather is hot and the Thai people's enthusiasm, that let me quickly adapt to the life in Thailand.
Practicum of community health nursing. NACHAYA teacher is very friendly, she took us to make home visits, the classmates very patience kindness, measuring blood pressure for the inhabitant , spread knowledge of disease, and I know hypertension is high incidence of disease family. This study is a new experience for me!
Then l come to Orthopedic Ward,l study with teacher NAPAPON,she teach me how to follow the nursing process to evaluate each patient.In fact,the first practice in the ward, I have a little confused, so I try to use nursing knowledge, keep the nursing process and basic anatomy in my mind for nursing care. In this ward, after daily conference the nurse will basis on the report to evaluate patients. The one month I learned a lot of disease and treatment technology(cauda equina syndrome;cord compression;osteo arthritis;traction and cast), the nurse,my teachers and classmates are very willing to help me and teach me, especially during the conference, myclassmate always help me to translate the key points of knowledge to explain for me, I also have a big harvest in the process of learning here.
Then I went to the Medical neurological ward, the teacher is a woman who love to smile, she often ask me question,let me do some homework, let me teach new students who first time come here, I appreciate she let me learning a lot about the neurology knowledge. In this ward have a lot patient of a diagnosis of stroke , so it is very important to stroke assessment.Stroke Fast Tract the warning signs of Fast(F:face;A:arm;S:speech;T:time)to evaluate.
Then I went to the Pediatric Ward, first is pediatric isolation ward we study with teacher Gloei and Nuch, in this ward pneumonia is the most common disease, when occur the tissue hypoxia and secretions too much that need to suction and support oxygen. In this particular ward we should do isolation precaution study the isolation level.Pay attention to transmission about infection source,route of transmission and susceptible population.In this ward,we have talk about five conference(infusion pumb;infection respiratory;infection GI;chicken pox;ethic). Second,we turn to SK-14 pediatric surgery study with teacher Junri and Ben.Because this ward is a department of surgery, so the pain is the most complication that can't stand for the younger patient.we help them distracting, we play games, do manual, draw, write with them, and at the same time we also evaluate patients with GCS: EMV(E:eye. M:motor. V:vobal). Many patient after head surgery have complication of IICP( increased intracranial pressure ), projectile vomiting is one of the main signs. Third， we came to the pediatric medical ward, I study with teacher Rose and Namwam in SK - 15. Both of them are friendly and theach us a lot.In this ward of disease have Leigh syndrome; Multiple deep neck infection; Dyskeratosis congenita. Gerebral palsy; Dengue fever. The disease is very serious, we should observe the monitoring to prevent complications. Fourth, we are in SK - 6 PCCU study with teacher Pimpilai, Pilailak, Chonlada together. I have learned TOF:tetralogy of fallot, PDA:patent ductus arteriosus, TGA:transponsition of great arteries, VSD:ventricular septal defect, ASD:atrial septal decfect,ultrasonic cardiogram and the ECG in this ward . Fifth, we came to the oncologydistudy with teacher Dipp,she explain the disease for us, I met a patient from Bangladesh's friend, he is a little boy nine-year-old called AHSAN strong and brave , his diagnosis is NHL: NON - Hodgkin lymphoma. The further diagnosis is Burkitt 's lymphoma. Because every patient condition here is very serious, so we need more nursing care and at the same time we give them more emotional support, let they don't feel lonely.
In November, I study in the MICU and SICU, mainly learn basic knowledge(VAP:ventilator associated pneumonia,EKG,Arterial blood gas,Normal sinus rhythm,ET Tube,Pericarditis), need to 24 hours a day in the ICU guardianship, is a test for nursing staff, and I also become extraordinarily serious studying here, we mainly monitoring vital signs, to evaluate patients, and same other departments to know all of the patients with disease data is indispensable.After study in ICU,I turn to ER.In the emergency room, every day in the afternoon, we have a conference to discuss respectively vaccine, wound, Multiple taruma.Emergency room is divided into three parts: sorting area trauma area and non traumatic area.
After study of fundamental practicum, I went to psychiatry ward learning. In fact, I never contact the mental patient, at first I have some tension and uneasiness, but I didn't felt I'm right when I contact them, actually all these patients are intelligent and kind person because the vast majority of stress and the lack of contact with society they will come here. Everyday,after morning conference we will open a newspaper group, let them get together and read the newspaper to answer the question, increase the care of friendship. Every Thursday before lunch there will be a volunteer to do cooking group for them, and department on Friday afternoon there will be a music group, let them into the music.
And the last I went to the post partum ward, in this department I could feel great maternal love and feel to be a mother is not easy. Here we mainly observe the maternal vital signs, prevent the occurrence of complications, to take care of the newborn, do breast massage to promote lactate for mother.This is a perfect end！
I can't remember when I had a more pleasant time. In fact, I am appreciate all of you let me join the exchange student program, because of this special opportunity let me to be a internship in the best hospital in Thailand, study in TRCN, meet so many lovely students and teachers, let me enjoy the different culture and the picturesque scenery in Thailand, that help me add one wonderful draw for my life-experience blueprint！

We have successfully finished our internship in Thailand. At the same time, I am honored to attending the Student Exchange Program at The Thai Red Cross college of Nuring.During 8 mouths, I practiced in ENT, pediatric, ER, ICU, fundamental and Psychiatricand post partum ward. Under the guidance of the teacher, I try to be a good nurse. Be responsible for patients, to set a firm foundation for future.
1.ENT(eye nose and throat)Ward
This is my first ward, first day I feel nervous.But my teachers and classmates help and encourage me. they teach me what to do and how to take care of the patient in ENT. Everyday we do nursing care for patients, including take a shower, ready for bed, sputum suction, cleaning and feeding.Every Thursday there is a discussion, the topic is sinusitis. Aj pornsawan helps me a lot. She is a teacher in Thammasat university. She teaches me what is sinusitis,cause,category,nursing diagnosis and treatment (medicine and operation). Anyway, This is my first step
2.Medical Neurological Ward
This is a special ward. Most of patients can not move and eat by themselves.AJ prapaporn leads our group. As usual,we do nursing care for patient, like vital sign, give medicine and morning care. Due to the particularity of the patient, maybe the department nurses more tired than other department nurses. In this ward, we discuss hydrocephalus, complication of ventriculoperitoneal shut and Glasglow coma score. Aj prapaporn is a strict teacher. She likes to let students find answers by themselves. In my opinion,that's a good way to study. Last day in this ward,a nurse teach me how to suction. It's a new experience for me.
3.Pediatric Ward
The first pediatric ward is about infection and isolation. The teacher separate us and join in the different groups. My patient is a boy only 11 months, the diagnosis is pneumonia. First day, AJ gives us homework. To learn about infection in respiration, suction, feeding and pneumonia. Everyday is not the same as the theme of the conference. Before conference, we must collect data first and make a mapping. Aj Gioei is very nice ,she explains everything for us.
The second pediatric ward is surgery,we follow AJ JU. Three of us join different group and have different case. Everyday my buddy will tell me lab and I need to write nursing diagnose and nursing plan. AJ told us that our patients are children, they have the feeling, have opinion. So they will fear at the hospital, nurse,doctor. We need more patience to accompany them and give support to their parents. I benefit a lot from these words.
The third pediatric ward is about medicine. we follow AJ ROSE. We do a little in this ward, vital sign, record and give medicine. Aj ROSE teaches us lumbar puncture，dehydration and IV liquid care. I also try to dressing wound for patient. Thanks my friend Mean to translate and help me.
The forth pediatric ward is about cancer. The different from another ward, AJ dipp give three of us one patient. Because he is come from Bangladesh, he can speak English. The first day to talk with him, we feel he is very quite and doesn't want to talk with others. But his father tells us, he is outgoing in his country. We know that he miss his friends and family. When we free,we always play and talk with him. Last day, we give him gift and his father tell us, he also feel happy than before. The first time I feel I am proud of to be a nurse. I can help patient.
4. Emergency Room Ward
I practice in ER with AJ Jarunee for 1 week. First day, AJ tells me when patient come, what will I do first and how to tell patient go which zone. At noon , it's my first time to see CPR. During this week, I have one chance to try CPR. But the patient dead. Aj tells me don't worry,time is important when do CPR. The patient come too late, so we can't save her life. Thanks AJ and nurses to give me chance to practice. I really rare every chance to practice.
5. ICU Ward
I study in ICU 2 weeks with AJ Satunya.We also are divided into three different groups for different patients .With the help of the classmates and teachers, I learned how to use hemodialysis instrument.And AJ is pay attention to pathological knowledge. When we report case, she will let us describe knowledge of pathology about our case. My teacher is very patient, she would explain to draw and write in English to me. I know a nice nurse,he taught me how to clean up the respiratory tract and give me gift when I leave.
6. Fundamental Ward
And this time I study with 2th-year students .they are also worked as an intern in the hospital for the first time. Same as others ward, we need to take a bath for patient. Because they are first time to do that,we will take a long time. I think the teacher is responsible, because students are worked as an intern in the hospital for the first time, teacher will careful to teach. The deepest impression is a Chinese patients, he can't speak Thai. The teacher asked me to help him to translate.I am happy I could help him. Finally, we left each other's phone number
7. Psychiatric Ward
This is a special department, I feel scared before I come.But the real exposure to patients, each patient is lovely. Here have different activities everyday. Like newspaper group,music group, funny group. When we finish 1 group, Aj Panida will discusspatients through different group.Or discuss this group success or not, patients enjoy group or not. Every day will come a lot of volunteers, teach them manually, cooking to relax themselves and enjoy it. Aj panida also teach us MSE (mental state examination). At first,she asked us to prepare,then let us to ask patient question to judge her mental state. I also like nurse in ward,sometimes AJ and friends don't have time to translate for us, so nurse sister translate for us and tell us about patient.
8. Post partum Ward
The ward has a few patients. Every morning at ten o 'clock, we will give mom a massage to promote milk secretion. Aj can speak Chinese, she teaches us how to do and use a thaj medicine bag to help mom. At afternoon, we take a bath for baby. At the same time, we teach mom hot to take a bath for their baby. My classmates also teach me 4 key sign of good attachment and when feeding, which position is best for baby. We also meet AJ dipp,she teaches us how to take care of baby and mother. I love my classmates and teachers
Through studying and living in Thailand for 8 mouths,I am not only gain knowledge, but also gain friendship. I appreciate the help from my classmates and my teacher in hospital. Thank everyone who I meet in Thailand. I also want to give a big thank you for everything Doctor Anchlee have done for us. She takes care of us a lot and let us to feel real Thailand. She seems like our mother .Anyway, we fall in love with this country, fall in love with Thai culture. When we come back we would like to spread Thai culture to China.
